Albanian banks’ profits reach ALL28bn in 2023

Albanian banks reported profits of ALL28.5bn (€271.7bn) in 2023, according to data from the Albanian Association of Banks. All banks in the country reported a profit for the year. 

The most profitable bank in 2023 was Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT), which reported profits of ALL6.7bn for the year, accounting for 23.4% of the sector’s total profits. 

Close behind was Raiffeisen Bank Albania with profits of ALL6.5bn, 22.8% of the sector total. 

Total assets of the sector stood at ALL2.0 trillion. The largest bank by assets was BKT, with assets of ALL485.5bn, 24.7% of total assets. 

Credins Bank had the largest loan portfolio as of December, with loans of ALL139.2bn, followed by Raiffeisen Bank Albania with ALL120.5bn. Total loans in the sector amounted to ALL718.4bn. 

Deposits for the sector stood at ALL1.6 trillion, the BKT holding the largest deposit portfolio at ALL416.0bn.
