Relations between Russia and America are at a nadir, but two Americans have set up a
"Vladentine" site for February 14 on tumblr.com, which features some of Putin’s most macho photos suitably captioned with loving messages.
"Get ready to have your world rocked, baby," says the caption on a picture of Putin holding a model of Soyuz rocket - which is actually a bit of a malapropism as the Soyuz is not a missile but a spacecraft.
But the site is a bit of fun, set up by two anonymous Americans and dubbed "love letters from a global badass."
"He does quite a few photo ops in extreme circumstances," said the blog's American creators who call themselves "Team Vlad", cited by Ria Novosti.
"We were joking about how many of his photos look like the cover of a Harlequin romance novel and thought it would be funny to create Vladentine’s, so the next day we started the blog," the pair said.
The site was launched two weeks ago by a male and female duo who have no ties to Russia and has received more than 35,000 hits from 160 countries, with Russia ranking high on the list of internet traffic, Team Vlad said.
