Iran has suspended all flights to and from major airports until April 15th due to ongoing tensions with Israel following Iran's retaliatory strikes on Israeli soil, ISNA reported.

The airports mentioned include the two major airports in Tehran, namely Mehrabad Airport and Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA), and the airports in Isfahan, Shiraz, and Bushehr. The airports in the western parts of the country, such as Ilam, Sanandaj, Tabriz, Ardabil, Urmia, Kermanshah, Khorramabad, Ahvaz, Abadan, Hamadan, Shahrekord, and Dezful, are also included.

Iran launched drone and missile strikes against Israel on the country’s soil on April 13th and 14th. The attack was a retaliatory operation in response to Israel's attack on an Iranian consular building that was annexed to the country's embassy on April 1st.

The Israeli attack killed seven military officials, including two top IRGC commanders and six Syrian civilians.

According to IKIA's caretaker, Saeed Chalandari, if Iran’s Civil Aviation Authority's warning regarding flight cancellations is not extended, IKIA flights will proceed as scheduled. If it is extended, flight cancellations will persist. Airlines make passenger transfer plans once flights are established.

All international flights in Tehran are served by the Imam Khomeini International Airport, while all domestic flights are via the older Mehrabad Airport.

It is currently uncertain how Israel might react to Iran's attack. There is also uncertainty as to whether the US can prevent Israel from engaging in confrontation to avoid further escalation in the region.

On April 13th, US President Joe Biden pledged a coordinated G7 diplomatic response. However, Iran appears to be preparing for potential retaliation from its arch-enemy based on recent actions taken by the country.

After the retaliatory strike, Iran has issued a warning to Israel, cautioning them about any further provocation. Iran has explicitly stated that if provoked again, its response will be even more forceful.

Iran has also issued warnings to the US, neighbouring countries, and those in the region. The warning states that if the US and Israel pose any threat to Iran from any country, Iran will respond in a reciprocal and proportionate manner to the source of the threat.
